Pro quality unpolished cast Alnico 5 bar magnet used in humbucker and P90 pickups. Magnet is marked blue to distinguish magnet grade and north orientation.
Characteristics:
In terms of magnetic strength the Alnico 5 is the strongest of the three when compared to Alnico 2 or Alnico 3. Bright, glassy tones with a punchy aggressive attack, a more tighter sound overall. While the lows are tight, the highs can sometimes tend to be a bit more chinky.

Magnet was swapped out for the stock Alnico II in a modern (screwless) neck position Gibson mini humbucker, a pickup which was first used (with an Alnico V) during the "dark ages" of Norlin ownership, and had a reputation for sounding thin and underpowered- suffice it to say that this is now FAR from the case! The extra flux provided by this piece really allows the MH coil to come into its own, fattening the frequency spectrum and increasing the output to the point at which it becomes the perfect companion in the /bridge/ position to a P-90 (with its reputation for untameability) in the neck.
If you are the proud owner of a LP Deluxe, lean toward palm-muted chugginess and are a bit handy with a soldering iron YOU NEED TWO OF THESE!!!
