I have an old Hondo 339W equipped with ACH2 Ibanez pickups from an Artcore. They sounded way too LOUD and more like a rockabilly guitar than a jazz..... I read about a trick to change the ceramic magnets for AlNiCo2 magnets to improve the sound. So I decided to order 2 of them.
Within 5 days they were shipped from America to Holland.
The result is a HUGE improvement in sound: more smoothness, less gain and more definition. Now I can use it what the guitar is made for......
It took me about 30minutes to swap the magnets.

I have ordered 10 such A2 rough cast bars to test them on my GAS PAFoid pickup line (PAFish humbuckers). After measuring the field on all of them, I was surprised again on the homogeneity of the magnetization along the bars!
I then installed some of them on a few GAS PAFoids and measured the response against A5 sintered bars. As epxected, there was NO significant frequency response change. But then, during the tests on some good Les Pauls, it was clear to realize the expected dynamic behavior: Nice, smooth, slight compression (over the A5's) which results to a perception of a "smoother" sound.
The bars have also the period-correct length for making PAFish buckers.
Ande they are really good ones!
Kudos to TK!!!
