 Product Description

This kit includes 3 complete custom Tone Kraft B-52 Stratocaster® Style Pickup Bobbins including all hardware and covers. All bobbins are pre-assembled and ready for winding. (Magnet wire is NOT included in this kit, and must be purchased separately)

These bobbins are for the true tone junkies! They sport 0.187" Alnico 2 rod magnets on the high three strings (G,B,e) while using 0.187" Alnico 5 rod magnets on the lower three strings (E,A,D). This helps to create a smooth, well balanced output. You get the punchy attack and well defined bass response associated with the Alnico 5 while producing the warm swelling vintage tones you get from the Alnico 2. No more need to compromise on either muddy bass response or harsh highs.

 

Each B-52 style bobbin includes: 

  • Vintage correct black vulcanized fiber work (grey bottom flatwork 0.093",black top flatwork 0.062")
  • Eyelets made specifically for soldering (eyelet lip is on bottom side only providing smooth, snag-free winding)
  • 0.187" Alnico V sand cast polepiece magnets on the low E, A, D strings 
  • 0.187" Alnico II sand cast polepiece magnets on the high G, B, e strings 
    E: 0.671  A: 0.671  D: 0.710  G: 0.710  B: 0.630  e: 0.650
  • Pickup height tension (your choice of conical spring or rubber tubing)
  • Pickup height adjustment screws (your choice of black oxide, chrome, gold or nickel)
  • Pickup covers (your choice of black, white or cream)
  • Orientation (your choice of left handed or right handed stagger)
  • Vintage style push-back wire
  • Holes for pickup tension screws come pre-tapped to accept a standard 6-32 thread
  • Optional product box with custom foam inserts

  1. Highest quality I have found and rivals the big names

    This is the set you want if you are not sure about trying your hand at winding pickups. With the mixed magnets you almost can't go wrong with the winding specs. You certainly will not find this option with other "kit" pickup offerings nor will you find this quality!

    I have used these as sets with great results as the A2 under the G string helps with string pull. I also use this on the bridge of my signature set as it sounds great from 6k to 7k Ohms and maybe even wider though I have not tried it.

    I just recieved two sets. Very nice flatworks with engraving. Looks superb.
    Nice servis,package and materials. In this moment my winder is in repair state, and I will make riview once more when I wound it.
    Best wishes to Tone Kraft and hope they will offer more new products in future like flatworks alone, bobbins, and everything about pickups like plain enamel wire, and some tools. Will be great create sets with different Polepiece spacing for middle, and neck strat pickups.
    I know that can be custom order but I think many winders wish that in standard product line, and one product more -bottom flatwork for tapcoil pickups with 3 eyelets.

    I sent for the B-52's as a bit of a test. I just wanted to find out the quality of the flatwork, magnets and service and I must say I cannot fault any of it. The service was superb and the flatwork is some of the best I have come accross. These are really great quality bobbins. I will write again when finished and tested in my strat.

    I wound up a set of these at early 60's output specs not knowing what to expect. Couldn't wait for the wax to cool and install them as a test set for my custom pickup business. I put them in a 1999 American Standard Strat and from the first chord I struck I knew these were awesome pickups. Very balanced tone that is thick and rich. They retain all the classic bell tones you want when wound right but yet are very full and rich. These bobbins make Awesome bridge pickups!
