 Product Description

This product includes (1) P-90® soapbar style fiber bobbin kit including all hardware, wire and cover. The fiber bobbin comes pre-tapped and pre-glued with hard maple shim ready for winding. The fiber bobbin helps to safe guard against bobbin warping while wax potting. (Magnet wire is NOT included in this kit, and must be purchased separately)

Originally introduced in 1946, this pickup would be made legendary by guitarists such as Wes Montgomery, Carlos Santana, Tony Iommi, George Harrison, Frank Zappa and Pete Townshend with it's more cutting edge and fatter tone in comparison to the popular Fender single coil. The P-90 has been undergoing a renaissance in the past decade and is becoming increasingly known as America's most desired pickup. Now you can recreate that vintage tone from 1946. Comes with your choice of Alnico 2, 3, or 5 bar magnets. 50mm pole spacing. 

 

Each P-90 Soapbar Kit includes: 

  • P-90 Soapbar style fiber bobbin with hard maple shim pre-glued and tapped to accept a standard 5-40 pole piece (bottom flatwork 0.093", top flatwork 0.093")
  • 50mm pole spacing
  • Eyelets made specifically for soldering (eyelet lip is on bottom side only providing smooth, snag-free winding)
  • Your choice of Alnico 2, 3 or 5 bar magnets
  • Six 1018 and six 1022 steel nickel plated fillister head pole pieces 
  • Two Pickup height tension springs
  • Two nickel plated mounting screws
  • Two nickel plated baseplate screws
  • Steel pole shoe
  • Pickup cover (your choice of black, cream or nickel silver cover)
  • Nickel silver baseplate
  • 28 awg 2 conductor shielded wire with a bare drain
  • Soldering terminal for ground
  • Product box with custom foam inserts (optional)

    I have had good luck with a few of the plastic bobbin kits from other makers, but the Tone Kraft, while not traditional construction, are easier to wind. The fiber bobbins of the TK kit allows you to not worry about bobbin deformation when winding and/or potting. All the materials in this kit are top quality! I love P-90s and I am so happy, though not surprised, Tone Kraft makes the best P-90 kit. Just know to pick up a few different magnet types as P-90s use 2 bar magnets so you can use A3 and A2 or A5, etc in the same pickup to fine tune the pickup to the specific needs of your guitar & amp.
